Peer consultation

From time to time, the counselling team (all associates and Katherine) will meet for Peer Consultation.

Purpose

Peer Consultation is a supportive, educational clinical process where:

  • Associates briefly review active clients/cases at a high level (no unnecessary detail).
  • The group brainstorms ideas, perspectives, and clinical options.
  • Feedback is offered to support the associate who “owns” the client.
  • The Head and Heart Counselling team meets periodically for peer consultations where we discuss client cases and study therapy resources together.

This is meant as a supportive and educational exercise, and can also generate helpful clinical information for the treating associate.
