Office Orientation (in-person office)

Wi‑Fi

  • Ask admin for the current Wi‑Fi network name and password.

Entry, intercom, and security

Locking the door

  • You are responsible for locking the door when you leave.
  • Recommended: lock the door while in session for security reasons and so your next client doesn’t accidentally walk in thinking there is a waiting room.

Intercom / buzzer

  • You will receive a code for the buzzer that will connect to your cell phone.
  • You can give the code to your in-person clients so they can buzz you for entry to the building.
  • Press 9 on your cell phone to buzz them in.
  • If you need help with buzzer setup, contact admin.

Keys and fobs

Building fob

  • You will receive a fob for the front door.
  • There is a fee of $70 for the fob if you lose it or don’t return it.
  • The fob works at the Homer St. door and the Cordova St. door.
  • At certain hours you will need to use the fob for the elevator to bring you to the 8th floor.

Keys (what each key does)

  • The gold key is for the door for #806.
  • The silver key is for the door to the stairwell to the left of the elevator on the main floor, and the garbage room to the right of the elevator on the main floor.
  • The key with the green tab is for the bathroom. It works for the men’s room and the ladies.

Bathroom key procedure

  • The bathroom key stays in the wooden plate on the edge of the desk.
  • Please ensure that your clients return the key to you if they use it.
  • If you or your client forgets it in the bathroom, you may have to ask the neighbors to borrow their key so you can retrieve ours.

Closing the windows

  • Please make sure the windows are closed when you leave.

Garbage

  • Please remove your garbage at the end of your shift.
  • You can take it to the garbage room or take it with you.

Furniture

  • Please be careful not to place any liquids on the wooden furniture as it marks it, except the desk. The desk is durable and old ;-)

Supplies

  • You will have a box with your name on it where you can place any personal belongings that you wish to store at the office.
  • Please keep the box in the large wooden sideboard.
  • Kleenex is stored in the sideboard:
    • Please open a new box if the current one runs out
    • Take the empty box out with your garbage
  • There is also a hand vacuum if you have a spill.

Fridge

  • You are welcome to store your lunch in the fridge but please clean out any food at least once per week.
  • If you store food longer than that, it may be thrown out.

Degrees and licenses

  • You are welcome to have your degree and license displayed on the wall.
  • Please provide me with paper copies of these if you wish to have them displayed.

Heating and air conditioning

  • If the suite is too hot or too cold, you can adjust the heat or turn on or off the air conditioner in the hallway using the thermostat outside of 805. If it is set to ‘cool’ the air conditioner comes on which affects the other suites as well.
  • You can tell if the air conditioner is on because it blows a yellow sticky note that is stuck to the vent at the height of the ceiling inside the suite on the south wall.
  • If the heating is not working, please let Katherine know right away, and there is also a space heater you can use inside the side board.

Quick checklist (before you leave)

  • Door locked
  • Windows closed
  • Garbage removed
  • Bathroom key returned to the wooden plate (if used)
  • Fridge checked (weekly clean-out)
